BPM’s Jim Wallace Commits to CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™

It’s the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace  11.05.19

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – BPM, one of the 50 largest public accounting and advisory firms in the country and largest non-Big Four in the Bay Area, announced today its CEO Jim Wallace has signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge. In doing so, BPM reinforces its commitment to an inclusive and diverse workplace.

The Pledge aims to rally the business community to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace by working collectively across organizations and sectors. It outlines a specific set of actions the undersigned companies will take to cultivate a trusting environment where all ideas are welcomed and employees feel comfortable and empowered to discuss diversity and inclusion.

“Our people are at the forefront of everything we do, and the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ commitment is just one additional resource for us to offer the best diversity programs at our Firm,” said Wallace. “While we are dedicated to building a more inclusive workplace where all our colleagues feel safe to be who they are, we understand there is always work to be done.”

Nearly 800 CEOs of the country’s leading business, schools and nonprofits have made the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge. Together, they represent more than 14 million employees.

By signing the pledge, BPM commits to continue to position the Firm as a safe environment to have complex conversations about diversity, to implement and expand unconscious bias conversations, to share best practices with other pledgers, as well as create and share strategic inclusion plans with the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ board of directors.

Earlier this month, the Firm screened The Big Flip – Stories from the Modern Home Front, an award-winning documentary that explores the hidden struggles and triumphs of families who have “flipped” traditional gender roles. Following the screening, peers across all levels and offices participated in conversation and brainstormed ideas on how the Firm could continue to promote a culture of gender equality.

This year, BPM expanded its win!, Women’s Initiative Now!, program, which ensures a culture that enhances the retention, recruitment and elevation of women, and it implemented unconscious bias training for Firm leaders. For these reasons and more, BPM received the “Best CPA Firm for Women” award in 2019 for the fifth year in a row.
