Veronica serves as a Manager of Assurance at BPM. She has over seven years of audit and assurance experience in public accounting, as well as in the private sector. She spent five years of her career at a Big 4 accounting firm (KPMG) in Puerto Rico and the Bay Area, where she served clients in different industries, such as government, healthcare and life science.
Veronica is highly-involved in BPM’s Blockchain/ Digital Assets industry group, where she serves blockchain and cryptocurrency companies, including venture capital funds and initial coin offerings (ICO). She also serves financial institutions and real estate clients.
Veronica has significant experience in managerial accounting, audit, financial reporting and process-related projects. As member of the assurance practice and blockchain industry group, she takes the lead in significant risk areas, such as fair value measurements estimates and related party transactions. Veronica helps clients with a broad range of services, including investments valuation and preparation of financial statements. She also has experience researching technical accounting issues and provides guidance to clients so they comply with financial reporting requirements.
Veronica serves as a lead in various audit engagements by taking responsibility of planning, budgeting, staffing and execution. She has excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and she takes pride in developing professional working relationships with clients by consistently demonstrating top customer service, quality work products and professional integrity.
Veronica Galarza Mercado holds an active CPA license in California and Puerto Rico.
Veronica is the Secretary on the Board of Directors at Mighty Hearts Project, a nonprofit organization that promotes the education and the care of dogs with Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease. In 2019, Veronica travelled to Yokohama, Japan to save her dog’s life. He had mitral valve repair surgery performed by a doctor who is the pioneer in this type of surgery.
