Sarah has over five years of corporate tax experience and works closely with companies in the technology and life science industries, specifically biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, software, social media, communications and manufacturing sectors.
She primarily works with pre-revenue startups with IPO aspirations and consolidated, multinational publicly-traded corporations. Sarah has extensive experience with tax provisions and a variety of tax compliance matters, including domestic and international tax filings, multistate income tax, as well as federal and state credit incentives.
In the past, Sarah guided a pharmaceutical company from startup to IPO, including tax planning for a successful acquisition, collaboration agreements, multiple rounds of funding and global expansion.
She recently served as outsourced tax manager for one of BPM’s corporate clients during its 2019 annual audit and 10-K filing, 2020 Q1 audit and 10-Q filing, and review of its tax internal control narrative with three third-party accounting firms. She intimately know the demands of a tax manager and finance team.
Sarah’s background also includes advising clients on the impacts of recent tax law changes and changes in accounting principles, including adoption of ASC 606 and 842, on their provision for income taxes. Specifically, with COVID-19 beneficial legislation, she informed clients of the tax impacts of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES), Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), disaster relief payments to employees under IRC Section 139 and the deferral of employer payroll taxes.
In addition to serving her clients, Sarah co-leads the Intangible Tech sub-group of BPM’s Technology Industry Group and actively participates in the Life Science Industry Group. She is also passionate about developing and mentoring staff.
Sarah Weaver holds an active CPA license in California.
Sarah loves live music – whether it is a local artist singing at church or a Grammy-award winning band performing in a sold-out stadium. In 2019, Sarah watched 39 artists/bands perform live.
