Rono has 20 years of advisory experience at public accounting firms and investment banks, with specialized knowledge of international tax and the technology sector. Possessing a unique blend of skills in international tax and corporate finance, Rono has advised clients on cross-border issues, including long-term international tax and intangible property planning and global structuring.

Prior to joining BPM, Rono was a Managing Director with PwC in Boston, advising large publicly listed multinational companies and mid-cap public and private companies. At PwC, he provided guidance to clients on a range of issues, including restructuring their foreign operations, evaluating the anticipated impact of the GILTI, FDII and BEAT rules on their US tax liability and evaluating the long-term tax impact of maintaining or eliminating a foreign intangible property structure.

Before joining PwC, Rono was a Managing Director with Grant Thornton, serving as the practice leader for the New England region based in Boston. Prior to moving to Boston, Rono worked for over 10 years with Grant Thornton and KPMG in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving a variety of clients, with a focus on technology and biotech companies. Rono draws on his experience with tax M&A, global structuring, repatriation strategies, withholding issues, subpart F, foreign tax credits, supply chain, intangible property and transfer pricing to provide practical, strategic advice for his clients.

In addition to his experience in international tax, Rono has five years’ experience in investment banking in the technology sector working with Lehman Brothers and Piper Jaffray, advising leading technology companies on initial public offerings, other capital raising transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.
