Ric has over 22 years of demonstrated professional experience in the areas of forensic accounting, internal audit, and information technology (IT) assurance with medium-to-large size organizations, as well as practicing in public accounting.
Forensic Accounting: He earned his Master of Accountancy with a concentration in Forensic Accounting from Golden Gate University. He has investigated numerous allegations of fraud and embezzlement throughout his professional career. Ric became a licensed private investigator to enhance his knowledge of investigation and focused his private practice on financial crimes investigations, including those involving employee misconducts and misappropriation of assets. He has developed special skills in fraud risk assessments and has worked with numerous clients on performing these specialized engagements. Ric has served as an expert witness before the Federal Grand Juries; at trials in both Federal and Superior Courts, and at numerous depositions and administrative hearings. He is reliable, trustworthy, pays close attention to details, and experienced with forensic data analysis. Ric possesses security clearance background and is familiar with reporting and auditing tools, including computer forensic analysis
Internal Audit: He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Finance and Internal Auditing from San Francisco State University. He has performed internal control assessments, SOX evaluation and testing, as well as directed and supervised internal audit engagements, corporate governance reviews, enterprise risk management studies, and anti-fraud and ethics projects within both consulting and professional services. He is experienced in change management, executing corrective action plans, reducing cost in construction management and delivering projects on time and budget. He has taught and practiced financial forecasting & modeling, financial reporting and prepared complex budgets for clients and employers throughout his professional career
IT Assurance: Ric earned the Advanced SOC for Service Organizations Certificate from the AICPA and also completed both SOC for Cybersecurity and Cybersecurity Advisory Services Certificates from the AICPA. He has been practicing the SSAE 18 (previously SSAE 16, SAS 70) System and Service Organization Controls (SOC) reporting & SOC for Cybersecurity for the past 20 years and two years, respectively. He has extensive experience leading and directing IT audits and examinations, information security assurance and new system implementation verification through the Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) process. He works closely with BPM's Assurance partners by assisting them in conducting an independent ITGC and Application Control review, as part of the support to their financial statement audits. Ric provides a comprehensive analysis of system reviews through a self-developed testing and reporting worksheet.
Ric teaches continuing professional education classes for the AICPA, as an Instructional Facilitator and has previously taught for state and local governments, as well as nonprofit professional organizations, such as the IIA and ISACA. He is also a Certified Instructor by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and he has lectured and presented on various accounting and IT subjects. Ric launched the internal audit concentration at a prestigious San Francisco-based private university.
Ric Jazaie holds an active CPA license in California.
Ric enjoys walking and hiking in the Bay Area. He is planning on visiting Australia, his final continent, in the coming year.
