Can You Have Too Much Security?

Some small business leaders question whether they have too much security for a business of their size. They ask, “Will hackers really try all these measures to infiltrate our company?” While there are appropriate amounts, there is no such thing as “too much.”

According to Sarah A. Lynn in her SmallBizDaily article, small business leaders need to understand what it is that needs protection. Is it a network or data, or perhaps the building and employees? Once they know what is necessary – as well as what could happen if their security fails – they can begin to discern the level of protection needed.

How much security is enough? Well, that varies in the business’s broader context. Altogether, however, too little security is always more of a concern than too much.
