SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – BPM, one of the 50 largest public accounting and advisory firms in the country, has been recognized in the 2020 Accounting MOVE Project as one of the “Best CPA Firms for Women” by the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) and Wilson-Taylor Associates, Inc. (WTA).
Part of an exclusive group of just 13 accounting firms, BPM’s selection was attributed to its business combinations with women-led firms and its steady focus on advancing women. The AFWA emphasized BPM’s diverse group of female executives has accelerated a culture change and allowed the Firm to rapidly develop relationships with new clients in new markets.
At BPM, 61% of the Firm’s workforce, 35% of the Management Committee and 27% of its partners are women. The Firm’s long-standing Inclusion Now! (IN!) initiative – originally conceived as Women’s Initiative Now! (WIN!) – emphasizes the value of employing and retaining women in the workforce. The program expanded in 2020 to highlight the Firm’s support of all minority groups, including LGBTQIA+ and non-binary team members, and integrate inclusion throughout its culture.
“Being recognized six years in a row for our dedication to diverse leadership teams is extremely gratifying,” said Michelle Ausburn, BPM’s IN! partner chair. “We strive to support and encourage colleagues of all genders, ethnicities and those who identify as LGBTQIA+ to feel comfortable expressing their authentic selves and put them in a position to succeed internally at the Firm and with their clients.”
“The findings of this year’s report solidify that women are extending positive change into the financial workforce by creating new initiatives and client retention with creativity and leadership,” said Cindy Stanley, executive director for the AFWA. “The unique perspectives and reliability of women in finance will continue to create new streams of opportunity and pave the way for progress.”
