It is with a heavy heart and solemn resolve that we share the news of the death of our great friend and one of our partners, Michael Spence. We were greatly saddened to learn that on March 3, 2017, Mike passed peacefully in his sleep. Mike is survived by his wife GaeAnn Spence and his daughter Danielle Spence.
Mike was born on December 19, 1956 in Salinas, CA. He graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Following graduation, Mike began what was to be a long and fulfilling career in public accounting. In 2006, Mike and his firm Brach, Neal, Daney, & Spence, LLP joined BPM where he served as Managing Partner for the Firm’s San Jose Office. He led by example, demonstrating a dedication and concern for his team and clients. He added immensely to BPM’s unique people-centric culture by elevating those around him through his work and leadership.
Mike will be remembered not only for the number of lives he touched throughout his professional career but also for his youthful and infectious spirit, which he shared with his many friends and colleagues on golf courses, at sporting activities, at Rotary events, and around restaurant tables.
