Curtis Burr, Henry Pilger and Steve Mayer weren't satisfied with the entrenched bureaucratic culture and intrinsic limitations of the big audit firms where they'd worked. In 1986, they left Coopers & Lybrand to found BPM joining forces to serve the fast-paced needs of the Bay Area's emerging businesses. They built a proactive, client-focused culture from the ground up, and within four years BPM was winning recognition as one of the region's prominent up-and-coming accounting firms.
Through strategic acquisitions and mergers, the firm has excelled in growing its talent and practice areas to include a robust Silicon Valley presence, and a specialized international tax division. Our talented management and people-centered values have propelled BPM onto numerous lists of “Best Places to Work” and “Best Managed CPA Firms.”
Today, BPM has multiple offices along the West Coast, as well as Hong Kong and the Cayman Islands. With 45 partners and a staff of over 500 professionals, BPM is big enough to matter yet small enough to care. BPM continues to exceed expectations, meeting client needs with the same enterprising vision and personalized touch envisioned by its founders from the very beginning.
