BPM believes our success is built from the collaboration of each employee's talent and passion for success. Each year we continue to recruit and foster new talent through our University Recruiting Program by searching for individuals who reflect our core values and yield a high level of academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. Many of our top performers have come from Bay Area institutes of higher education, some of which are listed below. Our recruiting team participates in on campus interviewing, Meet the Firm events, socials, and career fairs. Our University Recruiting Program is an integral component to our ongoing growth and success.
College to Corporate:
We hire some of our best talent straight out of college. Each year, our Staff Accountants continue to bring life and new ideas into the BPM family. So, how do you claim your branch on our family tree? We work with many colleges to recruit hard-working, sharp, dynamic students to fill our offices with the best talent. Professionalism is key to standing out among your peers. Asking questions during panels and being active during networking events while you are still in school is essential.
We understand the transition from academia to Corporate America is challenging, so rest assured that our Interns and new Staffs are not expected to know everything! We have a corporate university, BPMU, in place which provides the necessary tools to technically succeed. It is up to the individual to maintain a positive attitude, develop good communication skills and to strive to be a leader to be a well rounded professional.
Coaching programs are also in place to make sure our accountants are on the right track.
BPM prides itself on a work/life balance and nurturing a comfortable community-like environment in the workplace. Our goals are met by bringing in those who believe in relationships, people, pride of work, and most importantly, fun.
Test Drive Success: Our Internship Program gives students the opportunity to get an accurate feel for life after college at BPM. BPM Interns experience hands-on training and meaningful work. We are not in the business of making copies or teaching the art of ordering coffees before 9:00am; we are in the business of home-growing our associates by collaborating on client work to build a reliable foundation of knowledge. Throughout the 8-10 week program, interns rotate through different areas of the firm to provide a palate of options for them to later choose how they wish to paint their future. BPM strives to stimulate, challenge, and develop our Interns while keeping the experience realistically exciting and enjoyable so at the end of the day, they can go home and say, “Yeah, I just did that.”
First Year on the Job: College has finally coming to fruition. Now it's time to see what a career in accounting is all about. Below, three second-years talk about their first year at BPM:
“BPMU was the most important part of our orientation. It was through and gave all of us new hires a foundation for the work that was to come.” – Staff B
“I didn't know what to expect coming in, and was expecting a tight tied corporate environment. But once I started working, I realized everyone I was working with was in my shoes not too long ago. They were always there to answer any questions I had and we even went out outside work, which was nice.” – Staff A
“I chose BPM because of the dynamic projects Staffs are able to work on, stimulated by the open door policies of the partners. If I have a suggestion, I'll have no problem going in to a partner's office and talking about it. They don't respond like I'm a Staff, but listen as if I'm a partner. I appreciate the respect that circulates on all levels here.” – Staff A
